Welcome to Hillsborough, County Down, Northern Ireland

This site aims to give an insight into this very famous and historical Co. Down village which is renowned for its beautiful castle, its fine restaurants and Georgian houses.

Many of the buildings in the village date from the 18th century. St Malachy's Parish Church was built by the Marquis of Downshire between 1760 and 1774 in the hope that it would become the Cathedral of Down.

You can just spend a day walking round the village looking at the many

beautiful and historical buildings, pop into one of the many village shops,

the lovely coffee shops or even a pub lunch washed down by a pint of the

Black Stuff.

There is also a forest park with many walks running through it and a

lake which is popular with anglers or even just for families wishing

to feed the ducks and swans.
