Hillsborough Castle

Hillsborough Castle dates from 1770 and was added to an earlier house of 1760. The building which stands in beautiful Parkland and fine gardens. It was used by Governors of Northern Ireland from 1924 until 1973 and up until recently was the official residence of the many and varied Secretaries of State during the period of Direct Rule which has recently ended. The building itself is still owned by the Government and is used on state occasions and during Royal Visits hosts members of the Royal Family.
Many times during the year Garden Parties are held in aid of various charities which have Royal Patronage
